----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Each French Holiday Program is built with the same structure but each one is different because we work with the wonderful imagination of children.
Our goal for this program is to develop the child's confidence in French.
Every morning we train the body and prepare the mind. The training is in 2 parts:
Day 1, after the break, we present our theme to the children. We love to choose a theme they will enjoy and learn about. We always connect the theme with French Art and Culture. It can be painting, sculpture, books etc... We love this part, the kids are always so curious, asking many questions, telling their own story in French of course. Sometimes they don't know the French words so they try to explain it without English, using body language or examples… Lunch time ;-) followed by improvisation on the theme. Kids are in small groups and they have to invent a little story together. They LOVE this part, we LOVE this part! Don't forget, everything is in French.
Day 2 & 3 after the break we work on their impro. We help them structure their stories, some of them, really like to write them down, some cannot, so we do it for them. The afternoon, it's craft time, always linked to the theme. Sometimes we make costumes, props or just something to bring home. For us, it's time to rewrite their stories however we try to stay as close as possible of their own words, (it's really important for them) but sometimes the French is a bit... you know what I mean ;-) We read them, sometimes we have to explain why we changed some words, what they mean, they LOVE this part, we LOVE this part. Then it's time to learn by heart.
Each group works independently. The third day they are always tired but excited because,
the Day 4, is stage time and costumes time!
Day 5, is quite intense, it’s set up and performance time. Seeing the excitement in their eyes, the pride in being a few hours before what they have created is always so rewarding.
It is important for us, that you don't expect a lot of the performance. Performance is not our real goal. It is clearly the one of the children, but not ours.
For us, what really matters is to give them fun in French, it is:
to make them discover a part of the French culture, it is
to help them think and share in French, it is
to give them the tools to work in groups,
to help them develop their confidence,
to dare to speak in French AND in public even if for the moment it is only one word ...
- Drama training including breathing, body and voice warm-up, various concentration exercises, group work, etc...
- Theme presentation: listening, understanding, and talking.
- Decor and/or costumes/props: craft activities linked to the performance.
- Presentation: At the end of the week, the kids will present their work.

Every morning we train the body and prepare the mind. The training is in 2 parts:
- The circle: We warm up the body. We warm up the voice, learn breathing exercises, voice projection, tong-twister... We exercise the concentration with different group games.
- The "walking": This part uses the space and our place in it. We play with rhythm, weight, shape, distance, imagination, we freeze, we run, we slow down, we grow…
