For our 2022 play, we are excited to present a captivating story for all ages.
Pinocchio, written by Carlo Collodi, is an icon of children’s and Italian literature. The play by Joël Pommerat follows the initiation journey and adventures of a puppet from birth to adolescence. Born of a tree, sculpted by the hand of his father, a humble man, Pinocchio will go through his own life experiences without any notion of good or evil. He will find himself left alone, facing injustice, scheming and even crimes. His choices, whether good or bad, will lead him to his own humanity.
The Perth French Theatre production features original staging, magical appearances, and extravagant masks and costumes designed by local artist Tankateo.
We will all find ourselves in this story full of adventures, humour and emotions: the young will enjoy the enchantment and magic; the older (but young at heart) will see a tale both touching and philosophical.
This play will be performed in French with English surtitles displayed.
